Meet one of our newest council members, Ashley Chalut! Let’s find out a little more about her:

Current place of employment? 

Ashley Legal, PLLC – I own my own practice.

Law school?

Cooley Law School, Lansing Campus 

Objectives/goals related to your new position as Council Member–i.e. what do you want to accomplish?

To increase and enhance resources for young attorneys, particularly in District 3.   

Favorite thing about your geographic region in Michigan?

It’s hard to say, I represent a large region, but I think Region 3 encompasses some of the best adventure spots and scenic routes available. 

Why did you choose to pursue a legal career?

I had lofty ideas of being a social justice warrior that made changes.  or to be a prosecutor. 

What advice do you wish you knew when you were starting your legal career that you know now?

Don’t be afraid to be wrong.  Just admit when you don’t know. 

What is surprising about your job that others may not know?

Running a law practice is a beyond full time job.  

What do you like to do in your spare time (i.e. hobbies and interests)?

I needlepoint, am on a hunt to visit every lighthouse in Michigan, fish, camping, and Jigsaw puzzles.  

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

The ability to stop time, because there are never enough hours in a day. 

Favorite Snack Food?

Taco Bell, if that is considered a snack, LOL

When you were 5, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A doctor or a lawyer. 

How do you feel about candy corn?

It’s terrible.
