Get ready to exercise your right to vote! The State Bar of Michigan has announced its upcoming elections, scheduled for June 2025. This is your chance to shape the future of our legal community by electing representatives to key positions.

What’s on the Ballot?

Here’s a breakdown of the elections taking place:

  • Judicial Tenure Commission: A statewide election for one non-judicial member.
  • Representative Assembly: Elections for 85 members across 48 judicial circuits.
  • Board of Commissioners: Elections for seven members across five commissioner districts.
  • Young Lawyers Section Executive Council: Elections for 13 members across three districts.

Key Dates and Deadlines:

  • Nominating Petitions: Submit your nominating petitions via email to csharlow@michbar.org between April 1, 2025, and April 30, 2025. You can access the nominating petitions here: Nominating Petitions
  • Online Voting: Voting will commence no later than June 1, 2025, and must be completed by June 16, 2025. Ballots will be sent to active Michigan attorneys via email, to the email address on file with the state bar.
  • Check Your Contact Information: Ensure your email address is up-to-date by visiting michbar.org/MemberArea.

Judicial Tenure Commission:

  • One non-judicial member will be elected for a three-year term (Jan. 1, 2026 – Dec. 31, 2028).
  • Incumbent Thomas J. Ryan is eligible for reelection.

Representative Assembly:

  • Numerous seats are up for election across various judicial circuits, with varying term lengths.

Board of Commissioners:

  • Elections will be held in Districts A, C, F, H, and I.
