Regeana Myrick Outstanding Young Lawyer Award
This award honors a young lawyer in Michigan who exemplifies leadership, professional excellence, and a commitment to service — both to the legal profession and the broader community. It’s named in memory of Regeana Myrick, a former YLS Executive Council member known for her generosity, intellect, and dedication to public service. Her legacy continues through this award, which has recognized some of the most inspiring young attorneys across the state.
Eligibility:
- Member of the State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section
- In good standing with the State Bar of Michigan
- 36 years old or younger OR in practice for 10 years or less (whichever is greater)
- Current YLS Council members are not eligible
Past recipients include: Mary Aretha (2023), Oliver Howell (2021), Erin Flynn (2019), Kaitlin Brown (2018), and many more who continue to lead and serve their communities.
Mentor of the Year Award
Behind every successful young lawyer is a mentor who took the time to offer guidance, share wisdom, and open doors. The Mentor of the Year Award was created in 2023 to honor attorneys who take that role seriously — those who are not only role models, but true advocates for the growth and success of newer members of the profession.
Eligibility:
- Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan
Criteria:
- Demonstrated commitment to mentorship
- Positive influence on the professional development of young lawyers
- Notable contributions to the legal community and beyond
