On May 17, 2025, the YLS Council voted to propose amendments to the Section’s current Bylaws. These proposed changes can be found in a redlined PDF here. A brief overview of the proposed amendments are as follows:
- Modifying the Executive Officer order of succession so that one serves as Secretary prior to serving as Treasurer.
- The Chairperson-Elect shall automatically succeed the Chairperson, the Treasurer shall automatically succeed the Chairperson-Elect, and the Secretary shall automatically succeed the Treasurer.
- The Inter Alia Committee and the Media/Marketing Relations Committee are combined into the Media/Marketing Relations Committee with the Chairperson-Elect serving on the committee.
These proposed amendments are being published to the YLS membership in accordance with Article 8 of the Bylaws. The proposed amendments will be voted upon at the next regularly scheduled Council meeting by all members of the Section that are then-present. The next regularly scheduled meeting will occur on June 21, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. via a videoconferencing platform. All YLS members interested in appearing to vote should contact Chairperson Silvia A. Mansoor at smansoor@fbmjlaw.com. If approved, the proposed changes will replace the current set of Bylaws upon further approval from the State Bar of Michigan Board of Commissioners.
